We didn't know until she was born if she'd be a boy or a girl. And in all honesty we don't care who she wants to be or love as long as she's happy... but...

... being that Daddy so loves cars, he wanted share that passion with his kid. And there's no reason a little girl can't have a racecar bed and toolbox styled dresser. So one of family friends bought us, and are storing, a racecar bedroom set that she won't use for a year or so and which they're keeping secret until next Christmas. We don't know what it is, but my friend who knows how I am about Mustangs said that once it was all set up, I'd be wishing for the pink Barbie bedroom set. I'm afraid it's a Chevy or Camaro set and I love it.

Not yet. I've heard the same, but I think it's when you start introducing solid foods. Funny, before he was here I dreaded the poop and the puke and the interrupted sleep. But it's all nothing really in contrast to how much fun it is…well the interrupted sleep still sucks, but its an even trade at worst.

It was the second night in the Hospital, when my wife was sound asleep and not a nurse was in sight, that Etta filled her diaper for the first time.

I was paralytic with fear. I knew the theory behind diaper changes, but my experience was limited severely (my wife has six nieces and nephews, so she had it down pat) and my confidence questionable. I considered calling for a nurse, little knowing what to expect in that first diaper and then thought, "Cowboy up, buddy. You're gonna be changing shitty diapers for a long time."

So I did, and all the training and instinct took over. It wasn't gross, it wasn't scary. It was rewarding.

Thus, I completely understand what you mean when you say it's an even trade at worst because it's usually a wicked trade. I love the kid and love it when she poops. Being a parent does strange things to yah, hay?

Just got back from our first seasonal Santa photo's.

She slept, yawned and basically did everything a baby will do on Santa's lap.

It was adorable.
